overview

If you are lazy and just want to watch a show, do this:

cd ~
mkdir show
cd show
mkdir inst
tar xzf ../cadaverserver-*.tar.gz
tar xzf ../cadaverspyboss-*.tar.gz
tar xzf ../catrats-*.tar.gz

cd cadaverserver-*
./configure --prefix="$HOME"/show/inst
make install
cd ..

cd cadaverspyboss-*
./configure --prefix="$HOME"/show/inst
make install
cd ..

cd catrats-*
./configure --prefix="$HOME"/show/inst
make install
cd ..

"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/cadaverserver 40 40

((get a new xterm and do following in it))
"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/cadaverspyboss localhost

((switch back to the cadaverserver xterm and enter))
bo 1 1

((get a new xterm and do following in it))
"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/catrats localhost

((get a new xterm and do following in it))
"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/catrats localhost

((get a new xterm and do following in it))
"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/catrats localhost

((get a new xterm and do following in it))
"$HOME"/show/inst/bin/catrats localhost

((switch back to the cadaverserver xterm and enter))
mk 10 2 5 5
mk 10 3 35 5
mk 10 4 5 35
mk 10 5 35 35

((relax and watch the show. if you want to be unfair,
  there is a "armaggedon" command on the catrats console ... ))

you can always enter "help" on the cadaverserver console and on the catrats console to get a list of all available commands.
you should also try the other clients. because catrats versus catrats might get boring.
